What OPPO Enco X4 lossless audio needs from your phone

Enco X4 can connect to Android, iOS, and Windows devices, but its headline lossless mode depends on a Find X10. Translation and Smart Bluetooth have their own OPPO and regional conditions.

THE SHORT VERSION

  • OPPO says LHDC Lossless can reach 24-bit/48kHz and up to 2.3Mbps, but the full lossless path requires pairing the earbuds with a Find X10 series phone.
  • Spatial audio is described as cross-platform; translation and Smart Bluetooth each require selected OPPO or OnePlus devices and may vary by region.
  • The 13-hour earbud and 53-hour combined playback figures are OPPO laboratory claims under conditions that turn ANC off; Spain's reported price is 219 euros.

The lossless headline has a phone requirement

OPPO launched the Enco X4 on October 21 with a feature list that mixes broad compatibility and phone-specific functions. The headline audio promise is LHDC Lossless at up to 24-bit/48kHz and a transmission rate of up to 2.3Mbps. OPPO's own release says that full-chain wireless lossless playback requires pairing the earbuds with an OPPO Find X10 series phone. That is the first compatibility check for anyone considering them as an upgrade to a phone from Apple, Samsung, Google, or another Android maker.

The numbers describe a supported ceiling, not what every listening session will deliver. The music source, app setting, track format, selected Bluetooth codec, and connected phone all have to support the intended path. If one part sends a compressed stream, the earbuds cannot restore information that was removed before playback. OPPO does not say that simply pairing Enco X4 with any Bluetooth phone enables LHDC Lossless. Its announcement separates that mode from the wider device compatibility listed for other functions.

Some features travel across platforms

OPPO says Cross-Ecosystem Spatial Audio works with Android, iOS, and Windows devices. The same release lists Bluetooth 6.1 and dual-device connections across systems. The earbuds can therefore pair beyond OPPO phones, though controls and setup may differ by operating system. Before buying, check how your phone handles setup, sound modes, firmware updates, and a simultaneous laptop connection.

Smart Bluetooth is narrower. OPPO says that its Smart Bluetooth connection technology requires designated OPPO or OnePlus phones and may not be available in some countries or regions. The earbuds remain compatible with Bluetooth devices generally, but the phrase Smart Bluetooth refers to an additional feature set with a specific device and regional boundary. That distinction matters if a buyer sees a broad compatibility claim and assumes it covers faster switching, control-panel integration, or other brand-linked conveniences.

Driver design is not an independent sound result

The Enco X4 pairs an 11mm woofer with a TRF diaphragm and a 6mm planar diaphragm tweeter. Each driver has its own digital-to-analog converter, or DAC, so OPPO can process different frequency ranges separately. The company also says Dynaudio co-tuned five sound profiles. These are specific design choices that explain how the product is built and presented; they do not establish that every listener will prefer its sound or that it outperforms a competing pair.

laSexta reports the components and Find X10 requirement while summarizing OPPO’s announced specifications. Neither that report nor the launch announcement is an independent sound, ANC, or battery test. A useful review would compare named tracks at the same source quality and fit, then measure cancellation and runtime under stated settings.

Read the ANC percentages as OPPO's lab comparison

OPPO says the Enco X4 provides up to 100 percent stronger overall noise-cancellation performance than the previous Enco X3s, and up to 30 percent better cancellation in vocal frequencies. The footnote attributes those figures to OPPO Labs and says results vary with fit and environment. The release gives no complete protocol or frequency-by-frequency table. The percentage therefore should not be translated into a guaranteed reduction that every passenger will experience on a bus or train.

The product combines three microphones, an NPU, adaptive ANC, and ear tips designed for noise cancellation. OPPO says the adaptive mode can recognize settings such as a metro, bus, taxi, or airplane and adjust the cancellation. That is a useful claim to test in a review, especially because engine rumble, wind, announcements, and nearby speech behave differently. A buyer choosing earbuds for commuting should look for measured noise reduction and microphone samples in those situations, not infer them from the processor size or an overall percentage.

Translation and Gemini are not earbud-only features

AI Live Translation is advertised for more than 30 languages, but OPPO's footnote limits it to selected OPPO devices running ColorOS 15.0.1 or later. The supported language list is shown in the app, and availability changes by region and market launch date. That means an Enco X4 owner with a different Android phone or an iPhone should not assume the translation feature will appear after pairing. The earbud purchase alone does not satisfy the software requirement.

The Gemini voice function has a separate condition: OPPO says users can say the wake phrase when the earbuds are connected to a compatible device, and that setup is required. Compatibility and availability vary. The Neck Monitoring feature is described as a way to notice prolonged poor posture; it should be treated as a prompt rather than a medical measurement or a guarantee that the user is holding their head safely. These are device-linked conveniences. Their usefulness depends on the phone, software version, language, permissions, and market.

Battery life depends on settings the headline omits

OPPO lists up to 13 hours of music on the earbuds and up to 53 hours with the charging case. Its footnote gives the conditions: 25 degrees Celsius, AAC playback, active noise cancellation off, and volume at 50 percent. OPPO also says actual playtime changes with volume, calls, source, interference, and enabled features. A commuter who uses ANC and takes calls should not plan on reproducing the maximum figure.

The rating is IP55 for dust and water resistance under laboratory conditions. OPPO cites testing against GB/T 4208-2017 and IEC 60529-2013, then says aging and personal use affect results and cautions against charging the earbuds while damp. This helps frame the rating: it is a tested resistance classification, not a claim that the earbuds can be worn swimming or submerged. Fit also affects more than comfort. OPPO's own ANC disclaimer notes that sealing and use environment can change noise cancellation.

The global launch does not set one global price

OPPO says the Enco X4 will roll out gradually across global markets and tells buyers to check local announcements for pricing and availability. laSexta reported that the earbuds were already listed through OPPO's official Spanish store at a recommended price of 219 euros. That is a Spain-specific price observation. It should not be converted into a universal euro, dollar, or pound price without checking tax and local store terms.

At checkout, verify the seller, included accessories, return period, local warranty, and which phone features are enabled in that market. The OPPO announcement supplies the hardware and software conditions; the Spanish report provides a local purchase price. For any phone-dependent feature, confirm the exact model and app requirements in the country where you plan to use the earbuds.

Match the feature to the phone you already use

If lossless playback is the reason to buy, begin with the phone: OPPO names the Find X10 series as the required pairing for LHDC Lossless. If you mainly want spatial audio, the company lists Android, iOS, and Windows support, then check setup and controls for your own operating system. If live translation or Smart Bluetooth is the attraction, confirm the exact phone model, ColorOS version, app support, and region before paying.

For a Spanish buyer, the reported 219-euro listing is a local reference; other markets need their own store price. Before paying for the feature you want, confirm its phone, software, language, and regional requirements on the local product or support page.
